Narration: Direct থেকে Indirect Speech-এর মূল নিয়ম

কারো কথা হুবহু উদ্ধৃতি চিহ্নে বললে Direct, নিজের ভাষায় বললে Indirect Speech। এই লেখায় Assertive sentence-এর নিয়ম; অন্য বাক্যের নিয়ম প্রিমিয়াম পাঠে।

ধাপ ১: Reporting verb

said → said (কেউ না থাকলে) / said to → told; inverted comma তুলে that বসান।

ধাপ ২: Tense পরিবর্তন (Reporting verb past হলে)

• Present Indefinite → Past Indefinite (writes → wrote)
• Present Continuous → Past Continuous (is writing → was writing)
• Present Perfect → Past Perfect (has written → had written)
• Past Indefinite → Past Perfect (wrote → had written)
• will → would, can → could, may → might

⚠ চিরন্তন সত্যের Tense বদলায় না: He said, "The earth moves round the sun." → He said that the earth moves round the sun.

ধাপ ৩: Person পরিবর্তন (SON সূত্র)

First person → Reporting verb-এর Subject অনুযায়ী; Second person → Object অনুযায়ী; Third person → No change।

ধাপ ৪: কাছের শব্দ দূরের শব্দে

now → then, today → that day, tomorrow → the next day, yesterday → the previous day, here → there, this → that, ago → before.

উদাহরণ

Direct: He said to me, "I am reading a book now."
Indirect: He told me that he was reading a book then.

অনুশীলনী

Indirect করুন: She said, "I will go to Thakurgaon tomorrow."

উত্তর: She said that she would go to Thakurgaon the next day.
